It is a huge honour and pleasure to introduce the Conservatives Friends of Bangladesh (CFoB) ten-year anniversary celebration publication to commemorate our immense successes.
I am extremely delighted to welcome you all, this evening to the CFoB ten-year anniversary milestone, where together we can reflect on our achievements and commendations to date. CFoB has grown from its inception with its founding five members to a highly professionalised organisation with over 27 branches and more than 400 members, showcasing the talents, and contributions of the British Bangladeshi community in the UK.
We have shared our successes globally to Bangladesh through Project Shapla, our international social action project in Dhaka, and Sylhet during our delegation visits partnering with our community development and sporting charities.
In this ten year celebration, we fully recognise the inspirational talent and achievements the British Bangladeshis are contributing to the conservative cause. Our volunteers play a huge role in political campaigns, standing for public office and supporting the Conservative Party gain a majority in the General Election.
British Bangladeshis have had a huge impact on our economy, creating thousands of jobs and contributing millions to the economy. Our diverse skills are our strengths, where people with limited funds, rise to the challenge as their talent permits. The publication highlights those who have excelled in politics business, and public service and our inspirational hidden talent amongst us.
Over ten years, we have continuously built CFoB in the UK and Bangladesh. I’m sure the successes highlighted within the publication will inspire the next generation of British Bangladeshis to support CFoB and will endeavor to promote the Conservative Party for all and not just for the privileged few.
I’d like to say a special thank you to our Patron, Rt Hon Nicky Morgan MP, former Cabinet Minister for Education and Women & Equalities, for the tremendous support provided. To our president Anne Main MP and Hon Vice Presidents: Paul Scully MP, Mark Field MP, Bob Blackman MP, Dr Charles Tannock MEP, David Mackintosh MP, non-parliamentarians, the persistent support you give us is fully recognised and appreciated.
I say a special thank you to my executive team and regional branches for their team contributions, including our patrons and donors.
Thank you to our members and supporters who actively deliver in the community during election campaigns, and do for our country. This is where CFoB is built from its foundations and grassroots. We display our core values which are at the heart of everything we have immensely achieved.
Celebrating these achievements is really important. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all those involved in putting this commemoration tonight together, making CFoB a continuous success in collaboration with our parliamentarians, and my very best wishes.
