Bob Blackman CBE has served as the Conservative Member of Parliament for Harrow East since 2010 and has had a long career in public service at both local and national levels. Before entering Parliament, he served as a councillor in the London Borough of Brent for over two decades and was also a Member of the London Assembly representing Brent and Harrow.
In Parliament, Bob has been particularly active on housing and social policy. He successfully introduced the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, landmark legislation designed to strengthen support for those at risk of homelessness. In recognition of his contribution to public and political service, he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).
Bob has been closely associated with the Conservative Friends of Bangladesh (CFoB) for many years. He first joined the organisation in 2010 as Parliamentary Vice President and has been a strong supporter of strengthening the relationship between the United Kingdom and Bangladesh. In December 2019, he became the Parliamentary President of CFoB, continuing to support the organisation’s work in promoting community engagement, political dialogue, and closer UK–Bangladesh relations.
